Abstrakt

Increased manufacturing efficiency with high productivity and equipment
efficiency can be an important contribution to increased sustainability trough
sustained or increased performance and at the same time less use of resources,
less need for investing in new equipment. Performance measurement is
important for the control of manufacturing, and correctly applied performance
measurements can increase motivation for continuous improvement of
manufacturing efficiency by all employees. There is, however, no guarantee that
measurements will lead to improvements. The paper relies on a case study of a
manufacturing company with 9 years experience from automated data collection
and performance measurement. The paper suggests that Requirements
Engineering can be the approach to capture the needs of sustainable indicators of
economy, environment and social impact of production to achieve more effect
from the performance measurements and a support for decision-making
according to sustainability. Moreover, the paper suggests that new Key
Performance Indicators with the focus on sustainability needs to be developed.
